Hello,

My name is Mrs. Beth Flaucher. I am a native of Independence, where I was a student at St. John Elementary, Junior High, and High School. I attended Mount Mercy College and graduated in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood Education and an endorsement in Reading. I began teaching at St. Johns in 1989. During my first year I taught Language Arts and Reading to 5th, 7th, and 8th graders. The following year I moved to 4th grade where I have been ever since. This is currently my 31st year of teaching!

I am an active member of St. John Parish. I currently teach 4th grade Religious Education and am the RCIA coordinator for the John Paul II Cluster. In the past I have also taught various middle and high school Religious Education classes, have been a member of the Liturgy Committee, and have helped out with the parish's Children's Choir.

I am married to Marty Flaucher and have three children, Brad, Ryan, and Catie. As they are all grown up and have moved on, that just leaves my husband and I at home with our two cats, Fric and Remi.

The Autumn months of Covid sent a couple of special blessings our way as our two granddaughters, Vivian and Sofia were born in September and October. Needless to say, they are my favorite pastime and greatest joy. When not spending time with them I do enjoy reading and refurbishing old furniture-my relatively new hobby.

Catholic education has always been a large part of my life. All of my education has taken place in Catholic institutions. Having received an excellent value and faith-based education at these schools played a large role in my decision to teach at a Catholic school. I feel blessed that I have the opportunity to teach students how to use their minds, hearts, and hands to live wisely and generously, and to make service to family, church, and community an important part of their lives. It is this that is the highlight of my teaching career so far, having the opportunity to touch the lives of so many wonderful children, helping them to become all that God created them to be.
